Cardigan Queen

I realized that I wear my blue cardigan a lot...maybe too much? The nice thing about fashion is that there truly are no rules and it's all about your style (but by wearing that cardigan every other day I might not be keeping the fashion police away haha..). Anyways, it's just hard not to wear my navy blue cardigan! Let's face it, navy blue is definitely a staple color, especially in my wardrobe, and I feel like that cardigan seriously goes with everything I wear. Also, I wear cardigans a lot because I always get cold at work and sometimes it's too warm outside to wear a coat but too cold to just wear short sleeves. Enter cardigan.

Obviously I love cardigans probably more than anything else in the world, and I have quite a few, so my goal for the rest of this week is to not wear my blue cardi. Think I can do it?? Just watch me!!! :)

Sparkles with a Skirt

I might have worn this outfit back in December....oops. But I had to post it because it was such a fun outfit. I love my sparkly H&M sweater paired with this happy thrifted skirt (I took it in and made it shorter after buying it from DI). And boots. They're just fun too.

So I'm still going to keep posting on this blog for a while longer for certain reasons. I'm not sure when I will fully transfer everything to my other blog. But if you just want to follow one, I'll be posting these same posts on my other one as well plus more on that one, so I'd recommend following it if you want the most updates. This is my fashion-only blog :)

And it's Friday! Tomorrow night my roommates and I might be going to this thing on campus called the YBall. It's a formal attire event but free, which is super cool. If we do go, I'll be wearing a beautiful coral formal dress that I made so stay tuned!

Simple Joys

You know what is happy in life?

  -spending time with best friends

  -amazing classes with teachers that really teach you not only about the subject of class but also teach you things that are applicable in your life--my human development teacher has this great quality
  -the prophet coming to give a devotional at my school!
  -finding Sperry shoes at DI (a thrift store)
  -not wearing any makeup but still feeling okay about it
  -writing meaningful posts

These are some of the simple joys in my life that I experienced yesterday. I didn't even look at yesterday as an awesome day, just a day, but now looking back on it, it was an incredible day! I think if we look for that every day we will find that every single day we live is truly incredible and something worth living for. :)

Beautiful Heartbreaks

Hm. I'm just at a loss of what to write for this post. Actually maybe not. I have been watching or listening to this video multiple times every day this week. It is absolutely beautiful and comforting. Watch it. :)



Really, that song is amazing. With things I struggle with, or have struggled with, lately I've been so mad that I have them. It's not my fault that I struggle with certain things or have different trials, and it is not my fault that some of those things I have to choose to overcome and that they are so difficult to handle. Life is just so hard. But watching this video has been incredibly helpful because it let me realize that when these things happen, the view absolutely wonderful when you overcome them. The harder the challenge, the better the view...And it can become such a beautiful heartbreak to overcome these things. Because no, it's not my fault that I have different trials. But how wonderful if I can overcome them and turn them into something beautiful.

I think about Stephanie Nielson (in the video) and how she was burned by a fire, but no one looks at her as a problem or a trial. She is just seen as beautiful. Beautiful because she overcame something incredibly hard. I want to be like Stephanie and others like her one day. Anyways..those are just my thoughts of the day..

On a completely different sidenote, I really love this outfit. Red and yellow look just lovely together. And they are fall colors that can never go out of season! Plus the glasses just add something else altogether..something awesome haha. And one more sidenote....HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I will be sure to spill all the deets on my costume and Halloween events and such tomorrow!

Being Happy Now

Welp, it's Friday. Thank goodness! I get to go home for the weekend and go to two receptions, one of which Katri talked about. I also get to see Kung Fu Panda 2 (sorry, the other day I said it was Cars 2, my bad ha) for free before it comes out! Yeah baby! I loooove receptions and free movies. I can't wait to show you the dress I'm wearing today. :)

Anyways, you what really stinks sometimes? Being single. Yeah. I am going to say now that I've never kissed anyone or had a boyfriend. :( And sometimes it's okay, but most of the time, it can be really hard, because here in Provo, it seems like everyone is in a relationship, engaged, married, or breaking up. Ugh! It's so frustrating! I guess I just want it to be my turn. Is there anyone else out there in my same position? All the single ladies? ;) I guess the lesson I'm trying to learn through all of this is how to be happy where I'm at. Because I know that if I'm not happy now being single, then I'm not going to be happy if/when I date someone. I've been learning a lot lately that life could be absolutely wonderful and everything could be going right, but if you aren't happy with yourself, then you're not going to be happy. And that's a fact. So my goal is to be happy right now in my current situation. I'll keep you updated. Until then...happy Friday!

Hippie Thinking

Hey friends! How is your week going so far? Pretty much mine is going fabulously because I don't have school and I've just been working and playing lots. :D Summer (even if it doesn't completely feel like it weather-wise) is the BEST. And also, lots of new people moved into my ward, which means lots of new boys!!! Heaven, indeed. I already have my eye set on one haha. Expect an engagement post by next week ;) (I hope you know I'm kidding. I will date a boy for a while--a lot of months or year--before getting engaged!).

I guess though that even though life is pretty happy, there is still so much that I'm trying to work on, because I'm far from perfect and I've got lots of problems. I won't get into details but I just feel like I'm always working on something and always trying to be better. Sometimes I wish it would all just stop and the world and life's troubles would just pause. What I really want is just some peace (and love. the hippies were onto something I think...). Some peace of mind, peace with the world, and peace with myself. Have you ever realized how difficult it is to just feel peace? It's pretty dang hard. And it makes me cry many days.

Yesterday, though, I think I felt a little bit of peace. I went to the Carl Bloch exhibit in the BYU Museum of Art with my roommates and it was so wonderful. It was completely spiritual and peaceful. And I will admit that I did cry a little, but they were good tears. :) You may have heard of him before, but Carl Bloch was a painter and artist back a few hundred years ago who painted tons of beautiful pictures of scenes from Christ's life that are now reprinted and used in church buildings, church magazines, church books, etc. Even if you haven't heard of him, I have no doubt that you would be familiar with several of Carl Bloch's paintings if you saw them. Anyways, this exhibit has been at BYU for a while and very popular, because the original paintings are there. The exhibit ends next week so if you want to go, I'd highly recommend it. My favorite two paintings were these:

As I sat there sitting, staring at, and contemplating these paintings and the others, I felt a sense of peace. I realized how much He loves me. And I really am worth it. I honestly have no idea how much I mean to Him. Seeing that Gethsemane picture and seeing the depiction of that moment of suffering made me realize that if Christ can suffer for everyone's sins and go through that much pain, then I can overcome my trials. And the cool thing is that I have Him to help me through it. I will always have him. I think the only thing that truly gives me peace in life is my church. It's all I truly have and it's all I really need and it's all that matters. I love it. :)

I just wanted to share that. It's a good afternote for Easter. :)

Fancyness

So yesterday after I got off work (which was soooo busy because it was graduation so everyone and their dog was in the bookstore buying stuff. Where people get this money, I will never know, but I'm grateful cuz it gives me a job! ;)) I needed to take my outfit pictures so I was walking around the Wilk (Wilkinson Center, the building that the BYU Bookstore is located) and planning on just taking pictures in the hallway until I came upon these rooms... Apparently they are called the President's Reception Room or something like that. SUPER FANCY! Nothing like the boring-ness of the Wilk! I was shocked! And also I was shocked that they left the doors open. I felt like I was invading some secret society's hiding place but no one was in there so I walked around and took pictures. Ha it was fun.

No, I didn't actually play it.. :( I was afraid it would be too loud and I didn't want to get in trouble!

In My Bedroom

Yes, these pictures were taken in my room late last night because I forgot to take my pictures anywhere else! But that's okay..surprisingly the pictures turned out totally fine! Maybe my bedroom will become my new hotspot for pictures, ya? Haha ;)

Basically I really loved this outfit. I had to wear blue because of the BYU game (yeah Cougars! Sweet Sixteen!!!! Jimmer!). And also I wanted to wear a skirt but then just decided to roll up the jeggings so they were shorter and better for the warmer weather we've been getting. I really felt fashionable, comfortable, and natural in this outfit, which is a perfect combo, let me tell ya!

Oh and guess what, I got to see my family today! They were coming back from St. George after my brother's gymnastics meet--which he did awesome at btw--and then they picked me up from work. We watched the game together at Malawi's Pizza (super good food, and it was healthy, AND for every meal you buy they donate a meal to kids in Africa! yeah!) which was way fun, especially including the fact that we won! It was so so so so sooooo sad to say goodbye to my family though. I haven't been able to go home a ton this semester which really stinks. I might have cried a little (or a lot..) when they drove away. I love them so much! I can't wait for two weeks when I'll get to go home for a whole weekend. Yay!

As the Sun Sets

I actually really like how these pictures turned out. I hurried and took them as I was coming home from a quick shopping excursion so they're a little darker but I love the sunset in the back. The pictures have a perfect feel for the outfit too.

Speaking of the outfit, I really liked it too! :) I just kind of threw it together on the basis that I knew I wanted to wear these shoes and a skirt. It's been super warm lately, like in the high 50s (that's warm for Utah) so I took the chance to finally wear sandals! I absolutely love these sandals. They have a little bit of a heel but not a ton so they still look classy but are doable to walk around campus in. I got them for free from a shoe giveaway from Dreams Footwear on facebook. Um, free shoes? Yes, thank you very much. I will take them any day. I like the relaxed look of the oversized button up yet classy and fun look of the straight green skirt. I just think this outfit came together really nicely. It's times like these when I can look at the pictures and proudly say that I must know something about fashion, because let's face it, I don't feel like that most of the time. Your comments are very reassuring though, thank you :)

Sorry about not posting over the weekend. I actually took a quick road trip with some of my roommates and a friend to Las Vegas for the NCAA mountain west championship game. Unfortunately, BYU lost :( but the trip was super fun! I've never actually taken a road trip with friends before, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm sure it will be happening again soon, I hope. I took a billion gazillion pictures (meaning 265) in that day and a half, so if you want to read more about it, go to this link. I have lots of pictures too as well as the whole shabang story. ;)

Also, just thought I'd say that I had my blood drawn yesterday for the first time I can remember! And I didn't die! I seriously cried every time I thought about it and tears were streaming down my face as it was being done, but it really was only a pinch. So all I have to say from this is that if I can get my blood drawn, then you can do anything. ANYTHING, I tell ya :) I hope that was uplifting for you! Have a wonderful Tuesday :D
