[PFW Spring 2014] Look #5: Striped Dress

This dress was my absolute favorite from the collection and it was the one I looked forward to wearing the most after it was all said and done. I sketched this one out forever ago and even put the sketch (which I'm actually really proud of) on instagram months ago.

Anyway, here are photos of the dress, let me know what you think! I love it so much. Contrasting stripes are so much fun and I felt very creative designing this dress.

MULLET

Have you heard of the mullet skirt? Business in the front, party in the back...oh yeah! I found this shirt at a store in the mall called Cotton On (one of my new favorites--I also got the blue striped tank from there, sorry I know it's a little tacky to wear a whole outfit from the same store but the colors just matched so nicely). I was trying on some stuff in the dressing room, saw this skirt on the floor, tried it on and fell in L.O.V.E.

Wow, this skirt is flowy, flattering, beautiful, colorful, and comfortable. I feel like it's one of those fads that will come and go pretty quickly, but I'm jumping on this bandwagon for as long as I can because this skirt is amazing!

Sewvivor Round 2: Thrifted Dress

This week for the Sewvivor competition, I fixed a thrifted dress! As you can see "Before," the dress was way long, too big, and just really ugly. So I fixed it up quite a bit! I took up the waist, shortened and gathered the sleeves, hemmed the bottom, made a sash using the extra fabric from the hem, and changed the buttons! Overall it actually only took me about 4 hours and I LOVE how it turned out! I wore it yesterday to school and got a lot of compliments on it. Haha I like to call it a circus dress because of the fun stripes and big, flowy skirt.

So there's my dress for ya...now, if you want to, could you go VOTE FOR ME (contestant #6!)? Thanks! I need all the votes I can get! Last time I barely made it through and I really want to get through the next round again! Thanks!!!

Cardigan Queen

I realized that I wear my blue cardigan a lot...maybe too much? The nice thing about fashion is that there truly are no rules and it's all about your style (but by wearing that cardigan every other day I might not be keeping the fashion police away haha..). Anyways, it's just hard not to wear my navy blue cardigan! Let's face it, navy blue is definitely a staple color, especially in my wardrobe, and I feel like that cardigan seriously goes with everything I wear. Also, I wear cardigans a lot because I always get cold at work and sometimes it's too warm outside to wear a coat but too cold to just wear short sleeves. Enter cardigan.

Obviously I love cardigans probably more than anything else in the world, and I have quite a few, so my goal for the rest of this week is to not wear my blue cardi. Think I can do it?? Just watch me!!! :)

Loss

I just said goodbye to one of my very best friends for a year and a half, and dang it is so sad. :( Don't you wish you could sometimes just make life stop? Especially other people's lives, because then they could never leave you.

The thing about loss is that in a way, it's good. I mean say someone is leaving your life for a time, or even forever, and you don't really care that much. You never really got to love that person. But if you really miss them or if you truly feel pain and sadness over their being gone, then it means that you at least loved them and you got to experience times that made you happy while you were in them. It's hard but good. I feel like that's how most good things in life come--you have to experience the hard side of them if you really want to appreciate it.

So to Jessica, I'm gonna miss you so much but you are gonna be the best missionary ever. A year and a half isn't forever, right?? :)

Lonely

I have nothing much to say. I guess just that even though I have lots of friends and hang out with many people, I am lonely. I have no one to cry to and no one to tell my deep dark secrets and emotions to. I'm a little surprised I'm even writing this on my blog. I just miss having a best friend. And I'm lonely. I am still happy, just wishing I had another half.

Something that would make feel better is if you enter my contest. :)

Soooooo...

You know what movie is hilarious? How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Soooooo funny. I watched it with my roommates last night. And also we had cazookies, which is ice cream on top of a big cookie just out of the oven. Soooooo good. I love doing stuff with my roommates. They're like my family. Soooooo fun. ;)

You know what's cool? Looking around on campus and everywhere and seeing how everyone dresses. People all dress so differently and they all have their own style. I feel like having a fashion blog helps me to be able to observe the world of clothes in a different and less judgmental way. It's great, because no one dresses better than anyone else, but everyone dresses differently. I mean, there are some people that dress sloppily. But there are some people that dress so crazy and you know that it just expresses their personality. I love fashion!!

Also, for some reason, I've been happier lately and I don't really know why. I think maybe it's because I've been more myself. All those quotes that say, "be yourself" and stuff really do know what they're talking about.  Because I feel kind of great. And just happy happy. That is all.

Some Stripes and a Hat

Such a simple outfit but so cute, right? I think the hat makes it all! I got it at Forever 21 for $6.50! Yes please and thank you!! I would say taking these pictures was one of the highlights of my day (I think my favorite pic is the 3rd to last one), just because it was pretty fun. Once again, it's the hat I tell you!

My leg hurts right now. :( The right one to be exact. Because basically I stood for 4 hours at the Bruno Mars concert and then stood for 5 hours at work yesterday. And I was gonna go to hip-hop club to bust some sweet moves, but alas, my hurt leg. It feels a little better now and I'm sure I'll be jumping and leaping by tomorrow, but doesn't getting hurt just stink sometimes? I feel like it happens to me WAY too much! Ha, I'm a bit of a klutz...

Wanna hear a funny story? So me and my roommates will write random notes everywhere over our apartment. Like for birthdays we write all over the mirror. And then we have a bunch of those word magnets that we put into shapes and words on our fridge and also I just bought a whiteboard from the dollart store that we wrote notes on. Well pretty much we're all really dumb or can't spell or something because today we found the THIRD misspelled word we've done in the past few months! For one of the birthdays we wrote "You are beautful" (missing an "i"), on the fridge we wrote "We love Sring!" (missing a "p" and even though it was huge we didn't notice it for like a week!) and today we found on the whiteboard, "We've been missig you!" (missing needs an "n").

Haha it's a little pathetic. But also pretty funny. We tend to laugh hysterically for at least five minutes after we find them all. Ohh how I love my roomies. :D
