I literally have had no time lately! Which is definitely one of the reasons blogging has taken a hiatus. I am currently furiously sewing for the Cutting Fashion show on February 9th (I'll give you more details as it gets closer so you can come!). All my looks are due this Saturday so I just need to be done by then. I'm so close but at the same time I feel like I still have so much to do! It's like my own little Project Runway, minus Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum, Mood fabrics (still wish I lived in New York just so I could go there whenever I want), and the fact that I don't have a nice big sewing studio haha. Everything is coming along nicely though. I met my models on Saturday when we had a rehearsal for the runway show. I love them. They're some of the nicest girls I've ever met. We also had a designer photoshoot on Saturday so I got to get to know some of the designers better. The show is going to be so fun! I get more excited for it every day.
For those of you who haven't heard (which is probably most of you), I've decided to take a temporary break from school. I'm kind of close to graduating with about two-ish semesters left (but maybe more) but I really need a break. I was not doing super well in school and I wasn't motivated at all, so the decision was made for me to take some time off. It was a really hard thing to realize that I wouldn't be in school this semester and I cried a lot thinking about it. I mean, it's a scary thing not to be doing what I've been doing basically since I was five years old. It's scary to think about not following the exact plan I had in mind. But yeah, school's been hard for me to do lately so I need to take some time off. Temporarily of course.
Another sad fact of me not being in school is that I had to quit my job of three and a half years at the bookstore. My last day was on Friday and it was really sad to go. It's been an awesome job and I really love the people I work with. Thankfully though, I know we will keep in touch because we are such good friends. So I'm now officially jobless and school-less. I'm so grateful I have the fashion show to keep me busy while I'm searching for a job. Otherwise I might just sit around like a lazy potato (is there such a thing?).
It's sad that I won't be in school for a little bit, but it's the right decision. It's definitely what I need right now. And I have to say that it's taken a lot of stress off my back. I'm so glad that I don't have to stress over school and worry about any of that stuff right now. It's such a relief. A relief that I really need. :)
One more exciting thing about this semester is that my sister Carina is now in Provo going to UVU! It's been the best having her here. It's nice because I automatically have someone to hang out with or just chill with. We go grocery shopping together and can hang out whenever. Seriously though, I love it. I'm so happy she's here. It makes me feel more at home. :) She's also modeling in the fashion show for me which is extra fun.
Welp...that is the life update for now, because I know you were all dying to hear how I was. I'm doing good. Life is really happy and I am just so so excited for this fashion show coming up. You should plan on coming because it's going to be SWEET. Also, if any of you know of any jobs in the Provo/Orem/Utah county area, please please let me know, because I need to find something soon! I would love something full-time and am free at all times of the day. Seriously though, if you hear of anything let me know!

Happy [Late] St. Patricks Day
I have really been getting into doing the chalk signs at work. I've never felt like I'm a super artistic person, but artistic abilities seem to be showing through my chalk art (and I guess fashion is kind of an art in and of itself as well). These are the ones I did for St. Patrick's Day. It makes me happy whenever I complete a new sign, because I try to challenge myself and make every sign better than the last. Life is all about improving, even in the little things like chalk signs!

Why I Love My Job
I think one of the best things of my experience here at BYU has been working in the bookstore. I think for many reasons. The funny thing is, I didn't love my job there when I started as much as I love and appreciate it now...
I came to BYU as a young freshman girl and in obvious need of a job. I applied for the job at the bookstore and I also applied for another job on campus just cleaning tables and stuff in the Cougareat. I was offered the Cougareat job the same day as the interview, but I obviously wanted the bookstore job more, so I waited to find out about it. Funny enough, I'd actually applied for two different shifts in the bookstore, and when I called to find out about the job status, I think they only looked at one shift and told me I didn't get it. So naturally I called the other people and told them I wanted the job. Then, the first day my parents dropped me off, I was already feeling a little homesick and scared of being on my own. My friend Brooke was there and I went with her and her parents to get some groceries for her. Unexpectedly, I received a call from who else, but the Human Resources department at the bookstore letting me know I got the job! I was seriously so ecstatic and it was one of the first things that really made me excited to be at BYU.
Since then, I've gone from being the "baby" of the department to the one who's been there the longest (2 years and 8 months!). There have been a lot of changes in the store, from moving around departments and getting a new boss. But I have learned and grown so much through my job there as well. It's been the most constant thing that I've had since I started my schooling here and it's a great way to measure how much I have grown.
Through my job at the bookstore, I've become a lot more outgoing. It's interesting, because when I started working there, I was shy and didn't talk much to any of the other employees and didn't really put myself out there to customers. Mostly I kept to myself by folding clothes and keeping quiet. Even when the store was dead, I still wouldn't really go talk to any of the cashiers or anything. I just felt awkward and shy. I'm so different now, and I'm not saying it's been my job that has changed me, but it's a great way to see how I've changed. I greet pretty much every customer in my department, not really scared of what they will think of me or not anxious to talk to someone I don't know. When the store is dead, I find myself always talking to the other employees, and actually laughing and having fun with them. I'm so much bolder and more confident than before.
I've learned a lot of new skills that I didn't really know I had. Like I said, when I started, all I'd really do was fold and clean and do the basic things that anyone can really do. Now, I find myself always making wall displays (and enjoying it), doing really cool chalk signs, and taking initiative on different things around the department. Isn't that so cool?! I feel like I've gotten so many opportunities with this job and been able to find a lot of skills that I didn't realize I had. Isn't that interesting...it makes me wonder if this could happen with any job, if we just work hard, we might find things in ourselves that we didn't know we had.
Probably my favorite part about working at the bookstore has been all the friends I've made and the people I've met. Some of my very best friends are bookstore employees. I feel like it's one of the places where I'm totally myself and where the people who know me there, truly know ME and who I am. I don know, whenever I go to work, I'm always happy because I'm around great people. Seriously, bookstore employees are awesome! Probably some of my favorite people in the world. I feel so blessed to be able to have so many friends that I love so much from a place that I love so much! It's just really great.

Who knows, you might find something in yourself you didn't even know existed!! :)

A Fabulous and Happy Weekend
Saturday I worked from 7 am to 3! And that might sound awful, but it totally wasn't at all. All the bookstore employees (and there's a lot of us) were required to work on Saturday for the Utah Festival of Books, because we were hosting it for the first time. I went early to help with displays and set up and then I did face painting the rest of the time, which was also pretty fun. I just love festivals SO MUCH. Don't ask me why, maybe it's all the people, or the happiness of it, or just how everyone is having fun, but I love them. Anyways though, after I got off at 3 my family was there so I hung out with them which was just great. The festival was so huge and so fun, and I think it's going to become an annual thing, so already I can't wait for next year! Oh ya and David Archuleta came and I got a picture of him. hehe

Yesterday was like the best Sunday ever! Church was really great, although that morning I was feeling kind of sick from allergies and stuff so I took a nap when I got home. I woke up from my nap two hours later and went to a Relief Society ice cream social. Then we came home and both my roommates fell asleep so I made some funeral potatoes and platanos (fried plantaines--a Guatemalan food that's sooo yummy) for us to eat for dinner. Then we stalked people on facebook and watched youtube videos and then went to ward prayer. After ward prayer we went to another ice cream party and then came back and watched Despicable Me with homemade popcorn that I made. And all day I was in such a good mood. I was just really happy and outgoing and kind of crazy but it was funny. It was seriously one of the happiest days ever. Yay!
And now it's Monday. Kind of a downer, but I'll make the best of it. We have FHE tonight which will be fun because they're providing dinner. Sweet.
Also, shoutout to my brother Cee Ryle! His birthday is today and he's turning 12! So cool! I just want to say that I love him sooooooo much--more than he knows--and he is my favorite brother in the whole wide world (okay..he's my only brother haha). I hope he has a wonderful birthday..and lucky him, his last day of school was on Friday so his first day of summer is also his birthday! Love you Buddy!! :)

Receptions, Refashions, and Red...Oh My!
Do you like the dress? Here's the before picture...
I went to a reception last night which was great! It was for my friend Brittany, who was my next door neighbor last year in the dorms. Tonight I'm going to another friend's reception and I also am going to another one next weekend! Goodness gracious. One thing you have to realize about living in Utah, and especially in Provo, is that when you become college aged, especially starting your sophomore year, millions (okay, that's exaggerating obviously) of people start get married. And one someone gets married it basically means they've died from your life because if you don't work with them or have a class with them, you'll never see them because they are always with their spouse. True (and kind of sad) story.
Kind of going along with yesterday's post, I realized today that I'm sooo sooo happy doing what I'm doing right now. Really, I don't think I'd trade it for anything. I love that I have been sewing every day. And I love that I have this blog. And I love that I work with the women's clothing in the bookstore and get to make sweet displays and change mannequins all the time.

Busy!!!
Eeee! It's Women's Conference this week which means campus and the bookstore has been CRAZY! I've been working 8 hour shifts and it's been non-stop and super busy. But it's been fun! I love working when it's been because I always have something to do and I get to meet lots of new people. So fun! And I decided that I just really love my job so much. Ha I already knew that before but I just thought I'd say it. I really just love all my co-workers and have so many friends at work. And I get great benefits like a 20% discount and free textbook renting. And it's just a fun job. Work is my happy place and I'm really grateful to have it!
Did anyone watch Glee this week? I really liked it! It was actually a 90 minute episode instead of the regular hour. The songs were really amazing, my favorites being...
Somewhere Only We Know,
I Feel Pretty/Unpretty (been listening to this one on repeat, such a great song),
and Born This Way.
The episode was about how Mr. Schuester wanted the kids to accept the way the were, even the parts that made them unique (that's what's on their shirts in Born This Way). I thought it had such a great message about how we really do just need to be happy the way we are. And if we can be happy the way we are, then we can be role models for others in showing them that they can be happy with how they look too. :) It reminds me of this project on facebook called the What I Be project done by Ganesh Photography. Go look at the albums and you'll find the project on there. It's really changed the way I look at people and how I judge them. Super cool!
Another tv show that I just started watching and have been loving lately (thanks to Chelsey's suggestion) is Drop Dead Diva. It's about a pretty, thin, blonde model who dies and mistakenly gets sent into a fat girl's body. It's really funny and really cute. It's cool because in her new life she is a lawyer and she is able to relate to a lot of her clients because of what she has gone through in her size and other stuff. I really like and I've been watching the first season on Netflix, if you're interested.
Oh and here's another treat for ya...HP and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2...the last one! Ah! I cannot WAIT until July 15!!!! (sorry for the video overload haha)
And now after a long day of work and going hot-tubbing with my roomies, I'm saying good night!!

A Peek Into my Saturday Job
Yesterday was dead at the BYU Bookstore (where I work in the Women's shop). So I was super bored. What did I do? Take pictures. Which solved my boredom pretty quickly I'd have to say..

Detached
I have somewhere to be at 11, but I just wanted to post super fast because I felt like it.
Life is...good? Bad? I'm not really sure right now. It's different every day. Right now I just feel detached from the world. Which is kind of sad, but kind of good too I think. Sometimes you need a little detachment.
I'm back at school, which is going ok. I did really well on two tests that I took last week and yesterday, so I'm excited to find out my score! Hopefully it wasn't one of those tests that you think you did really well on and ended up getting a terrible grade. Haha. Yesterday night I went to FHE, which was super fun. I totally love my "family." We all have a lot of fun together and last night was no exception. We were laughing hysterically at Spongebob songs and discussing Harry Potter. [And don't worry, we still had a lesson. It was on the Plan of Salvation.] We decided we're going to have Sunday dinners every week at a different apartment together. It'll be so fun! We haven't done a Sunday dinner or any dinner together as roommates once this semester. Sad, huh? So I'm happy to have some "family time" every Sunday.
Today I went to Jazz class and then tonight I have to work for 6 hours! Jazz class is fun...we're learning a hip hop routine. We have to test it on Thursday though and so our teacher was trying to get us to dance it like we will on the test. She was getting frustrated by the end because she kept telling us to "perform it" and give her more but I'm not sure we really succeeded. It's just hard because I'm pretty sure most of us have never really danced hip hop and I know some girls were still just trying to get down the whole routine. I'll probably work on that dance tomorrow since it's been a while since I danced on my own. I want to get an A! :)
As for work, it's the Christmas preview night at the bookstore, where they have a ton of sales and everything in the store is 20% off (including Down East Basics stuff). It's from 5-9 and I'll be working most of the time. Some come! There will be a lot of other fun stuff going on too. You can do some shopping, enjoy the Christmas spirit, and come by and visit me. :) Also, I think the first 25 people to the General Book desk get a free book by C.S. Lewis or some big author like that.
And now...I have to go. Come visit me at the bookstore tonight! I'll be in the women's clothing section. :)

First Week of College...and so it begins!
Wow, I'm finally updated with everything, thank GOODNESS!!!!! That was a lot of stuff I had to do, but I'm done and I can move on with bigger and better things, like... COLLEGE! I'm really and truly here at BYU. Its so unbelievable and amazing that I'm living the dream I've wanted for soooo long. I love it here a ton! My roommates are pretty much the greatest people ever and I've met so many people that I don't think I'll ever be able to memorize a name again. Living on my own is such a new experience, but so far, its been absolutely wonderful and so fun. I moved here on Wednesday and this whole week has been New Student Orientation, so we've done a lot of stuff. Its been great, though! :) :) :) :)
Wednesday: Came here and unpacked, had lunch, said goodbye :(, went to a job orientation.... My roommates Hollie and Christine were already there and SO NICE! After that, one of my best friend's, Brooke, came, which was so good because after leaving my parents I was glad to have someone close to me here. I helped her bring her stuff to her room and then I went with her and her parents to the grocery store since we didn't really have much to do. Later that day, I met my actual roomie and she's way nice too! Her name is Chelsey. That night there was a dinner for all the Freshman and New Student Orientation. I also saw a ton of people from my high school. There are at least 50 here. We played around a little but then went to bed around midnight. Oh and on this day I found out that I got hired at the bookstore as a Women's Sales Clerk! I'm very excited because the bookstore is a really good job and I think it will be lots of fun!
Thursday: We had to wake up early to go check in for New Student Orientation (NSO) and find out our Y groups. It started at 8:30, so Brooke and I got there and there were only like two boys from our Y group there at the moment (and they weren't that cute) so we left and came back to the apartment. We watched our youth conference video from our ward and laughed at that, went to the creamery for ice cream (yum!) and then went to lunch. There was some convocation that we skipped but we found our whole Y group at lunch. The guys in it are kind of weird but most of the girls are really nice. We then went on a tour of campus and I left a little early for my bookstore orientation. I get a 20% discount at the bookstore and three free BYU t-shirts! I'm soooo excited to work there. After that I stood in a long line to verify my social security card so I could actually work. Brooke and I hung out a little bit after that too. Hollie was also very nice to organize all our kitchen stuff---she is like the most organized person ever and I'm glad she's one of my roomies. Also, our last roommate Kelly checked in! She's very nice, but a little shy. She's originally from Peru and moved to Texas four years ago. Christine has also taken four years of Spanish, so me, her, and Kelly were talking in Spanish to eachother and have been teaching Brooke and Hollie (but mostly Hollie) a few Spanish phrases! Its fun! For dinner, Brooke and I went to the cougareat and had Taco Bell, found some Davis people (my high school) and then went to this thing were the Young Ambassadors did singing and dancing and JERICHO ROAD came! It was epic! :)

That night, we went to a "party" that was on the balcony, but I guess it was against the rules and it got busted. :( But Christine had some guy friends that were pretty cute and way hilarious that we played games with until almost midnight. It was lots of fun! We also met some really nice boys who are going to be in our ward. At like 12:30, Brooke and I weren't really tired so we just went outside for a walk and talked a little. It was nice. And then we went to bed. Crazy day, huh?
Friday: There was a devotional by Todd Parker at 9 am and it was a really great devotional! I liked it a lot. We did some other stuff with our Y group and had lunch then went to the college information sessions and showcases. I went to the Humanities one because English is in that and the information session wasn't that helpful, but oh well. I have an intro to the english major class so that will help a ton. I then went back to the apartment and did a little email. I also made a sad discovery that the piano in our hall is really crappy and the pedal doesn't work and the pianos in the Fine Arts Center are only for students taking piano classes! I'm having withdrawals. :( I'm going to search in the other halls to see if they have good pianos at all, because I really need to practice! I went to work that night from 5-8 at my new bookstore job and it was pretty good. Its really easy and I just fold clothes and do stuff in the women's clothes! Its a pretty good job. After that there was a game night being held for NSO and all the Freshman went. It was crazy fun. I met lots of new people that I'll probably never see again, but its all good. We played ultimate frisbee and some cool guy named Johnny was teaching a bunch of people the broadway dance to "You Can't Stop the Beat," from Hairspray. It was sweet. And then we went to bed? Sort of. We stayed up late every night because we didn't have classes...ha!
Saturday: This was a way chill day with really nothing to do. Everybody slept in lots which was nice because the other days we were waking up earlier for New Student Orientation. At 10 am we had a ward donut social. It was pretty fun, but a little weird because people would basically go to one group and learn everybody's names, go to the next group and do the same thing, etc. I learned a lot of names and I pretty much forgot all of them. I think it will be better once we have more activities and get to know everybody better. We attempted to make brownies, but I don't think we sprayed the pan right or something because the brownies were way stuck. What we could get out tasted good though!
My family also came, which was pretty fun. My sibs got to see my room and then we went and ate lunch/dinner and went grocery shopping for some stuff. And my parents also brought Brooke and I some scooters. But sad day, because we found out they're not allowed on campus, so we're only going to ride them at night or off-campus. And then we had the dance that night!!!! It was amazingly fun, and we took a picture of all us roomies together before we left.

It was so hot and sweaty at the dance but it was pretty cool. I danced with a few guys, some of them we had met on Thursday. It was crazy fun (too close for comfort, though?) and we were sad once it was done. When we got back to our apartment, we weren't really tired and our feet hurt so we had a foot bath (we did this on Friday too) and it felt sooooo nice! This activity may continue throughout the year.
Then we watched the movie Enchanted on my laptop and ate popcorn (I made it, though it turned out a little burnt) but we were tired so halfway through we skipped to the end and then went to bed at like 2:00 am!
Sunday: We were all very tired and woke up at 10 am (some later than that) because we thankfully don't have church until 1:00 :) We were able to take our time getting ready which was way nice. We had a hall meeting before church to talk about lots of stuff like our goals, why we came to BYU and other stuff we can do. Church was fun but weird because we stayed in the same room the whole time and I actually had relief society! Except there were only two old ladies so it didn't really feel like it. I really like my ward though because everyone is nice and fun and willing to meet new people! It will be a blast! The only bad thing: the ratio of boys to girls is 1:3. Competition!!! :D When we got back home all of us roommates cooked dinner together, which we decided will happen every Sunday. We made some delicious ramen noodle stir fry and made successful brownies. Yay!!!
Funny story: We were planning on taking some brownies to a boys dorm (we girls have our ways) and share but some boys came over because one of them needed ice for his leg, I guess. So we just shared brownies with them. It was pretty fun! We had ward prayer later that night and rode scooters on the way there. I took this beautiful picture of Brooke scootering with the sky in the background.
We went to bed at like eleven because classes were starting and we knew we had to get serious. *sigh* But Hollie and I stayed up a little decorating our kitchen. Pictures will soon be posted! Wish me luck on all my classes!!! :)
Wednesday: Came here and unpacked, had lunch, said goodbye :(, went to a job orientation.... My roommates Hollie and Christine were already there and SO NICE! After that, one of my best friend's, Brooke, came, which was so good because after leaving my parents I was glad to have someone close to me here. I helped her bring her stuff to her room and then I went with her and her parents to the grocery store since we didn't really have much to do. Later that day, I met my actual roomie and she's way nice too! Her name is Chelsey. That night there was a dinner for all the Freshman and New Student Orientation. I also saw a ton of people from my high school. There are at least 50 here. We played around a little but then went to bed around midnight. Oh and on this day I found out that I got hired at the bookstore as a Women's Sales Clerk! I'm very excited because the bookstore is a really good job and I think it will be lots of fun!
Thursday: We had to wake up early to go check in for New Student Orientation (NSO) and find out our Y groups. It started at 8:30, so Brooke and I got there and there were only like two boys from our Y group there at the moment (and they weren't that cute) so we left and came back to the apartment. We watched our youth conference video from our ward and laughed at that, went to the creamery for ice cream (yum!) and then went to lunch. There was some convocation that we skipped but we found our whole Y group at lunch. The guys in it are kind of weird but most of the girls are really nice. We then went on a tour of campus and I left a little early for my bookstore orientation. I get a 20% discount at the bookstore and three free BYU t-shirts! I'm soooo excited to work there. After that I stood in a long line to verify my social security card so I could actually work. Brooke and I hung out a little bit after that too. Hollie was also very nice to organize all our kitchen stuff---she is like the most organized person ever and I'm glad she's one of my roomies. Also, our last roommate Kelly checked in! She's very nice, but a little shy. She's originally from Peru and moved to Texas four years ago. Christine has also taken four years of Spanish, so me, her, and Kelly were talking in Spanish to eachother and have been teaching Brooke and Hollie (but mostly Hollie) a few Spanish phrases! Its fun! For dinner, Brooke and I went to the cougareat and had Taco Bell, found some Davis people (my high school) and then went to this thing were the Young Ambassadors did singing and dancing and JERICHO ROAD came! It was epic! :)
Just waiting for the show thing to start with Brooke and HollieThat night, we went to a "party" that was on the balcony, but I guess it was against the rules and it got busted. :( But Christine had some guy friends that were pretty cute and way hilarious that we played games with until almost midnight. It was lots of fun! We also met some really nice boys who are going to be in our ward. At like 12:30, Brooke and I weren't really tired so we just went outside for a walk and talked a little. It was nice. And then we went to bed. Crazy day, huh?
Friday: There was a devotional by Todd Parker at 9 am and it was a really great devotional! I liked it a lot. We did some other stuff with our Y group and had lunch then went to the college information sessions and showcases. I went to the Humanities one because English is in that and the information session wasn't that helpful, but oh well. I have an intro to the english major class so that will help a ton. I then went back to the apartment and did a little email. I also made a sad discovery that the piano in our hall is really crappy and the pedal doesn't work and the pianos in the Fine Arts Center are only for students taking piano classes! I'm having withdrawals. :( I'm going to search in the other halls to see if they have good pianos at all, because I really need to practice! I went to work that night from 5-8 at my new bookstore job and it was pretty good. Its really easy and I just fold clothes and do stuff in the women's clothes! Its a pretty good job. After that there was a game night being held for NSO and all the Freshman went. It was crazy fun. I met lots of new people that I'll probably never see again, but its all good. We played ultimate frisbee and some cool guy named Johnny was teaching a bunch of people the broadway dance to "You Can't Stop the Beat," from Hairspray. It was sweet. And then we went to bed? Sort of. We stayed up late every night because we didn't have classes...ha!
Saturday: This was a way chill day with really nothing to do. Everybody slept in lots which was nice because the other days we were waking up earlier for New Student Orientation. At 10 am we had a ward donut social. It was pretty fun, but a little weird because people would basically go to one group and learn everybody's names, go to the next group and do the same thing, etc. I learned a lot of names and I pretty much forgot all of them. I think it will be better once we have more activities and get to know everybody better.
