Went to a great church meeting, spent it with family, ate good food, and did an easter egg hunt for the kids! Isn't my cousins Zuri adorable?! I'm in love with the picture of her looking at the camera! But yes, I love Easter, it's the best. Also, I love how my family is matching in the above picture without trying to (and I love that my brother ruined every picture with a funny face--just kidding, did NOT love that :P). I filmed a bunch so I'll probably post a video of it soon!

Because of Him

I have literally watched this video every day since I first saw it. It was posted 8 days ago and now has almost 4 million views on youtube. No matter who you are, I hope this video will speak to you like it has spoken to me. Just watch it, it's less than three minutes long and definitely worth your time.


Let's face it...life is hard. My life is hard, so soooooo hard sometimes, and whoever you are reading this right now, your life is probably hard too, or has been, or will be. Saying it never changes the fact, but sometimes it feels nice to just get it out and say LIFE IS HARD. Sometimes it's never enough, like I will never be able to explain the magnitude of the hardness of life to someone.

It's so easy to lose hope, to want to give up. I know a lot of things in my heart, but when life gets in the way and things are difficult, I have trouble making sense of it all in my head. It feels like I can't do it and sometimes I feel like I don't care anymore. It's hard. It's hard hard hard.

I'm beginning to realize that the only way I can have peace and be whole, is through Him, through His atonement. It's because of Him that I can mess up a million times and still somehow stand up and try again once more. Because of Him, I have hope.

I hope you know that because of Him, you can feel the same way too. He can heal you the way I am trying to let Him heal me. No matter your struggles, faults, weaknesses, or addictions, you can be free because of Him.

I hope you know that. Or at least I hope you feel that one day, you will be able to know that. You are loved.

Because of Him.

Easter 2013

I loooove Easter. It comes close to Christmas for the favorite holidays list. Why do I enjoy it? 1) it means spring has sprung, 2) I love the joy of egg hunts (although none of us seem to know the mystery behind why a bunny delivers the eggs--what do they have in common??) 3) Family traditions are the best, but even more so... 4) family is the best, and Easter is all about spending time with them!

We had a yummy dinner of fish tacos and dessert of pineapple cake and resurrection rolls (as per tradition for those). My sisters and I also make a point of doing an Easter egg hunt for all the younger cousins every year, partly because we love them but mostly because it makes us happy seeing those cute kids running around being happy. My four year-old cousin Tayevion was adorable as he exclaimed "This is the BEST Easter day ever!" as he opened all his eggs to find more candy and more money. I love how the simplest thing can make a kid so incredibly happy.

I took lots of pictures, and sorry not sorry but there is an overload of photos of my aunt's children, because let's face it. They're adorable. Especially their new two-week old baby girl Zuri. She melts my heart.

In case you are wondering, I got my dress from Wal-Mart (I know, right?!) for $15 and I love it. So so cute. :)

Most of all, I am grateful for Easter because it celebrates life. The life of Christ and the lives of us that He saves every single day. I'm grateful for His sacrifices and for the atonement. Pretty sure I would be miserable without it. I know that we shouldn't need a holiday to celebrate these things and be grateful for them, but I'm still happy to have a yearly reminder of how important Christ is in my life.

Easter 2012

I went home for Easter and had the greatest time ever. for one thing, my outfit was wonderful! The picture below is too bright but it was a bow blouse with that cute floral skirt and also my nude heels that I always wear. Right after church we kept up the tradition of picture taking. Luckily it was nice weather so we could take photos outside. Oh and we got a family photo but it's on my dad's camera so I'll have to get that later.

After we took pictures, we gathered up some costumes and videography stuff to make Cee Ryle's video for student body officer. We filmed it outside of his junior high. I must say, it turned out pretty hilarious and I'd totally give you the link except it's on the school website and you need a login to see it. When I get home this weekend, I get the copy from my sister and post it.

Also per tradition, Carina, Sidney, and I filled up Easter eggs and scattered them around the yard for the younger kids to have a fun egg hunt. They loved it of course!

Funny story: So when my mom and her siblings were kid, my grandparents (her parents) would always have them do funny picture poses like touching a leaf on a tree or something else interesting. So I was about to take a picture of my grandma and then jokingly and completely kidding my mom said, "Oh where's a tree so she can touch a leaf in the picture?" And then my grandma was completely serious like, "Oh yes! There's one!" So we got this leaf picture that actually turned out to be a really good picture and a beautiful one of my grandma. The whole branch holding thing doesn't look too bad here but it's still pretty funny. ;)

For Easter dinner we had ham and funeral potatoes, which was a real treat since we usually don't have the "traditional" Easter dinner in my house all the time. Man, was it a good meal! For dessert we made Resurrection Rolls (also a tradition) and had delicious cobbler made by my lovely aunt, Zildy. It was one of the best Easters ever, the weather was perfect and everyone was in great spirits. I love being home and being able to spend time with my family. It's always lots of fun. :)

Easter With My Best Friends

I had such a wonderful Easter this year! I spent it at home with my family. We did lots of fun stuff, like an Easter Egg hunt on Saturday (mostly for Gracie's enjoyment), an Easter egg hunt brought by the Easter bunny in our house Sunday morning, going to church, me playing Mary Magdalene in church for the primary kids, jumping on the trampoline, taking silly pictures, doing puzzles, going to my grandparents' house for dinner, coming home and taking an hour to read the scriptures and pray (because that's just how my family is and we just get WAY too distracted sometimes ha), and watching the Amazing Race. Good Easter? Yes. But don't take my word for it...a picture speaks a thousand words, so hear are a few more thousand words for ya. :)

I am so grateful to be able to celebrate Easter knowing that Christ was resurrected and that he lives. It's truly amazing. The atonement is one of the most wonderful things ever and I'm so grateful for it. Honestly, I don't know what I'd do without it! I am so happy to know that I will always have someone on my side and someone waiting to lift me up. I can't tell you how many times I have felt so alone in life and I've felt like no loved me or like I just didn't know what to do, and in those times I turned to Christ for love and support. And he gave/gives it unconditionally. I just want to say that I know this church is true, and when I say that, my heart honestly swells with joy. I love this church and Christ and everything it has done for me. I would not be the woman I am right now without it. :)

Not much time to write, but I just have to say that I had a wonderful Easter! I'll be posting on my other blog more about it but I just didn't have time currently. I guess I just really love Easter because it makes me so happy. Celebrating the resurrection of Christ, sunshine, new birth, cute colors, SPRING!--they're all just wonderful. I celebrated by wearing my dress all day ;), going to church and playing Mary Magdalene for all the kids in primary (in my church primary is where the kids aged 3-11 go), jumping on the trampoline with my sister Gracie in our dresses, taking pictures, doing puzzles with my siblings, going to dinner at my grandparents' house (where the pictures are located) and coming home and watching the Amazing Race with my family. I love Easter. :)

Speaking of love, how much do you love this dress? ;) Pretty sure I'd have to say that I love it a lot! Isn't it sooooo cute?! I got it at Ross for like $22 and I think it is the perfect Easter/spring dress. I'm soooooo happy I bought it! Oh and I actually added the lace at the bottom of the dress just to make it a little bit longer and more modest. I think I like it more with the lace anyways.
