I just wanted to share my exciting feature on Fashion Utah. I was so excited to be able to do this and I hope you like it! The link is here for you to read it. Thanks to Jet Moody for interviewing me and being so nice and helpful!

Hey friends!

If you read this blog or even just happened upon it, then there's a good chance that you like fashion or mixing up your outfits. Well if that's the case, you've come to the right place! (see how I rhymed? oh yeah!)

Each month I'm going to hold an outfit contest based on either a theme or a picture for you to get your inspiration from. Anyone who wants to enter will have a week to do so. To enter, all you have to do is email me at {kikicbrownee at gmail dot com} and send me your picture. After the entry deadline, I'll post an album of all the entered pictures on my facebook page, where everyone will have the chance to vote for their favorite picture by "liking" it. When the voting period is up, there will be two winners, a reader favorite--chosen by whichever outfit has the most likes--and my favorite. The winners will receive a $10 gift card to Forever 21 (my favorite store) and also have their blogs featured on my site! Sound fun?

June has already started, so we have to get this thing in gear now! For the month of June your inspiration is this photograph:

Summer is just starting and for some reason, whenever I think of summer I think of popsicles! So that's your inspiration for this month.

You have from now, June 10, to next Friday, June 17 to enter. Shoot me an email at kikicbrownee at gmail dot com (also on my contact page) with your outfit picture, name, and blog address (if you don't have a blog you can still enter). Be sure to enter by midnight of June 18th or I won't accept your entry!

The voting will start the day after that on Saturday, June 18, when the pictures will be posted on my facebook page and then you can vote for your favorite outfit! Be sure to like the page so that you can vote for your favorite outfit!

Since this started a little later in the month, the voting will be a little less than two weeks and the two winners will be announced on Friday, July 1st!

Fun Feature Friday: Kelli from A Bit of Good Madness

Hi friends! So guess, what?! Fun Feature Friday is back! I kind of forgot about it/pushed it to the side so no one has been featured for a while. But don't fear, Kelli is here! ;) Today you get to meet the super fabulous and fashionable Kelli. She's also a BYU student like me, which makes her pretty much extra cool. Her blog, A Bit of Good Madness, is super cute! Pretty much when I found Kelli's blog I went through and just kept going back page by page because she has the cutest style and she's pretty much hilarious and has the best stories. I kind of obsessively blog stalk her...hahaha. And even though I'm kind of a creep, Kelli has graciously agreed to be featured on here. :) So without further ado..meet Kelli!

Kailee: What is your favorite thing about fashion blogging and what is your least favorite thing about it?

Kelli: My favorite thing--It really motivates me to be creative. Unfortunately, I'm no good with a paintbrush; so for me, putting together outfits is kind of like my art form. Fashion blogging gives me motivation to be creative and also gives me an outlet to "display my art." Plus, I just have so much fun doing it! Another one of my favorite things is when someone tells me that my outfit has inspired them or has helped them figure out how to wear one of the pieces in their wardrobe. It makes me feel fulfilled--I'm actually helping someone instead of just posting a whole bunch of pictures of myself.

My least favorite thing--Some days I do just feel like I'm posting a whole bunch of silly pictures of myself. When I'm not doing a challenge, like 30 for 30, I sometimes wonder if it's totally narcissistic to paste my blog with pictures of me and outfits that I think are cute. I guess I just really want to feel like I'm blogging for a purpose...which is why you should all stay tuned to my blog because I have some changes coming up in the near future ;) 

What's something random about you that no one in the blogging world knows about?

I was not always as fashion-conscious as I am now. Oh no. My wardrobe consisted of cat t-shirts (and only cat t-shirts) up until the 7th grade. I kid you not. I remember buying my first "cute" shirt in the 7th grade because my friends and I were buying matching shirts for a talent show dance routine. I realized that maybe it was time to give my wardrobe some variety that didn't just consist of different cat breeds. But even though I began to branch out from the feline-inspired clothing, my relatives would still send me cat shirts and continued to do so until high school. The last cat shirt I ever got was sent to me by my aunt. It was from a Shakespeare festival, had three big cat faces on it, and said "Tabby or Not Tabby. That is the question." I wish I would have kept it. I think I would wear it.

If you could pick one person in the world to be for a day, who would it be and why?

Hmm...that's a toughie. I kind of think it'd be cool to switch places with someone in a hunter-gatherer tribe. We had to read The Harmless People for one of my classes and I got kind of obsessed with the African bushmen--I think it would be incredible to experience such a dramatically different lifestyle for a day. Either that or Meryl Streep. I think it would be exhilarating to be her...and I bet she has a fantastic wardrobe. ;)

Favorite clothing item that you just can't live without?

Right now, it's probably my brown blazer. I seriously wear it like every day.

Happy News

Soooo...guess what?! I was featured here! Some wonderful girls created a blog called BYU Style, where they post about the different styles going on at BYU and their personal views on fashion. Pretty much I think it's great. I love reading about BYU style, especially since I go there ha. You know what's even better? Writing about style at BYU! I'm gonna be guest posting on here whenever I get a chance or have something cool to write about. So I'll definitely let you guys know when I post, but you should just head on over to the website and check it out! The format is awesome and these girls really know what they're doing with fun and interesting posts to read. I'm so excited and honored to be a part of the BYU Style team. Can't wait!! :)

P.S. For all of you cougars out there, there's also another fashion blog run by BYUSA called YFashion. They just take pictures of fashionable students all over campus every day. Kinda like the Sartorialist. Anyways. Have a good night!

Fun Feature Friday: My Top 5 Favorite NON-Fashion Blogs

Ok folks, so even though I write a fashion blog and pretty much read them all like crazy, I'm still normal and read other cool blogs too. So I thought I write about my top 5 favorites on here (in no particular order...)

1. American Honey
This blog is done by McKinley, an 18 year-old girl who goes to hair school and seriously just one of the cutest girls ever. I love reading her blog. She's just a funny, regular teenage girl and someone who I can totally relate which I love. She's super sweet. And she also has a great etsy shop for you to check out!

2. Happily Ever Now
Written by one of my great friends Amy, I can't help but laugh SO hard every time I read her blog. Amy always (yes, always) has something funny to say or something funny to post about. It really just makes my day every time she posts. And guess what...she's just as great in real life! She was in my ward last year and I still run into her all the time all over school. LOVE Amy. :)

3. little lady+landon

This blog has the cutest photography! And also, Brittany, who writes the blog and takes pictures, is an incredible artist. Seriously her art blows me away. Check it out here. I really just love photography blogs, I think they are so great and to me, pictures really do equal a thousand words.

4. Cotton and Curls
This is one of my all-time favorite blogs in general. So it's kind of a fashion blog, but it's different, because she's super good at sewing everything so she makes a lot of her clothes. AH. I'm obsessed. I wish I had time because then I would take on all of the projects she does. Lizzie is incredibly talented. And it's a cute blog! Definitely worth not passing up.

5. All the Belles and Whistles
This blog is written by Claire, a pretty girl with an attractive husband. They're basically one of those couples that just seems perfect. But they're not of course but they do great (and almost perfect) things that Claire blogs about. It's just a fun real-life blog that you can't help but want to read more.

Fun Feature Friday: Miss Hannie from Tea and Buscuits

Hi everyone! Meet my lovely friend Hannie from Tea and Buscuits. She's 18 and getting ready to go away for college next year. She's absolutely adorable and so super stylish. Oh and did I mention that she's British? Cool, huh? I found her blog just about a week ago and fell in love. She is so funny, very classy, and has the cutest outfits! Once I started reading her blog, I couldn't stop and I just went through the whole thing! I know you will too, which is why I had to feature her. So without further ado...say hi to Miss Hannie!

Kiki: Who is your favorite style icon?

Hannie: Golly, I wouldn't even know where to begin! I love Rachel Bilson's style because I think it's classic and fresh, but also carefree. I also love Diane Kruger's feminine style - she always chooses the best dresses for the red carpet. I also think most off-duty models have impeccable taste!

What got you started in fashion and where do you want to go with it?

Like most girls, I've been interested in fashion since I was about 13 years old, but it's taken me so long to really find my style. Even now I would say that it is constantly evolving! In an ideal world, I would love to take my love of fashion into a career by working as a marketing executive for a designer such as Kate Spade. That would be pretty perfect!

If you could live in a different time period for the fashion, when would it be?

I would have loved to live in the 1920s. I think it would have been so interesting to see the contrast between the traditional dress and the more 'promiscuous' dressing that would have been emerging. Also, there were flappers and who wouldn't want to be a flapper?!

Where do you get some of your inspiration from?

All the usual places, such as magazines and such. But I do get most of my inpspiration from style blogs. My favorites include the Daybook (of course!), Kristine. Or Polly, Musings in Femininity, That Kind of Woman, and Clothed Much.

If you didn't blog, what activity would you do with your time instead?

Gosh I really don't know! I'd probably still be scrap-booking my favorite outfits, and making a record of what I wear - which is basically an offline version of blogging haha!

Fun Feature Friday: Totally Tessa

Hi friends! Welcome to Fun Feature Friday! This is my first one and every friday I'll feature a fashion blogger that I love or get inspired from. Are you a fashion blogger and want to be featured? Shoot me an email at kikicbrownee[at]gmail[dot]com so I can consider you to be featured!

So everyone get ready and meet today's featured blogger...Totally Tessa! Tessa is a senior in high school who seriously has a killer sense of style, a super cute blog, and a great sense of humor. Her blog is one of my favorites and is actually one of the first fashion blogs I started looking at before I decided to start my own. She has the cutest outfits and I promise, looking at her blog will only want to make you read more and see more outfits! So...meet Tessa!

Kiki: Who is your favorite style icon?

Tessa: hmmmm...Favorite style icon? Man this is hard! I really don't have one, but my idol is Audrey Hepburn. At all times she was classy, poised, and gave great advice! What I love most about her is that she never got caught up in the fame and loved spending time with her boys. Plus she had great style! Also I love looking back on the styles of the 40's and 50's.

What got you started and where do you want to go with it?

Tessa: Well my mom actually! A couple months before I even started my fashion blog, Totally Tessa, she kept mentioning that I should start a fashion blog because it would be a great way to get involved in the fashion industry. I always thought it was a good idea but I didn't really want to because I guess I was too self-conscious to post my outfits on the internet for everyone to see. But then my mom bought my domain, just in case I changed my mind. {haha totally something she would do}. Finally I gave in and started my blog in May of 2010, and I absolutely love it! Mother knows best, I guess. In the future I definitely plan on blogging and I want to do something with fashion marketing. To work for a fashion magazine would be my dream job!

One item (clothing/accessory wise) you can't live without?

Tessa: Well my favorite item right now that I can't live without is my circle scarves! I love them so much, I'm kind of obsessed. I mean who wouldn't be?! They feel like a pillow on your neck and they are so cozy!

Where do you get some of your inspiration from?

Tessa: I get inspiration from all over! It's kind of crazy. But my main source it definitely from other fashion bloggers. They are so creative with the things they put together! Also, I love to get inspiration from more vintage styles. One of my favorite dresses is from the 1950's. So that era is definitely an inspiration to me. Oh! and I have an infatuation with Anthropologie, so sometimes I copy cat them!

Something random that no one in the blogging world really knows about you?

Tessa: Something no one knows about me.... Well I guess that I was in a Fred Meyer ad for winter coats when I was in middle school. haha. It was my 15 minutes of fame, I guess. It was fun and I got to cross modeling off my bucket list!
