Back from Cali
Sorry I didn't blog for a few days there friends..I was on a wonderful and much needed vacation in California with my roommates. It was such a fun trip with lots of sightseeing, going to Knott's Berry Farm, going to lots of beaches, being crazy tourists and taking a gazillion pictures and videos (that part was mostly me), long car rides with us reading (and finishing!) the first Harry Potter book, singing along to all my ipod playlists and artists like Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift, lots of truth or truth games, and many slap-happy laughing moments. It was the best. And I can't wait to tell you (and show you, because I took a lot of videos and am going to compile them all) all about it!

Cutting Fashion Look #7: Red Dress
My last and final look for the Cutting Fashion show! It's taken a little bit to do it, but I'm glad I've blogged about each of these individually. They all deserved their own posts, especially with all the work I spent on them!
This dress was my last one, I guess the showstopper in a way. I love the little details in this dress, like the asymmetrical hemline and the extra blue accents on the sleeve and neckline of the dress. I think it's a fun dress, and it definitely was a little bit different, in a good way I hope! Here are the photos.

I don't know if any of you would like to see it, but I have a video of the show that I'll post in the next few days. I totally forgot I had it until I saw it as I was moving out of my old apartment and into my new one. I'll try and get that up soon! Thanks for all the comments I get on these looks. Cutting Fashion Look #6: LBD (Little Black Dress)
Every girl needs a little black dress as part of her wardrobe, am I right? So of course I had to include one in my own collection. I made this black dress exactly how I'd want a black dress to be for me. This was probably the look that I was most excited to wear after the show was over, and I've definitely already worn it quite a few times. This week I wore it to work and got a ton of compliments on it, which made me feel good. It feels great when people tell you that you look cute, but when people say that the dress you're wearing (that you made!) is cute and even ask where you got it, well...that's really something to make you smile.
I was lucky enough to have my sister model for me in the show so I had her wear this dress! Personally I think she looked killer in it, no? I probably would have given her the dress had I not wanted it so much for myself haha.
I found this fabric at Walmart actually, and fell in love with it (never mind the price tag that said $2/yard...). The front is cute, but the back is definitely the fun part of it all. I included an exposed zipper just like I did with my other garments in the collection and the top half of the back was made up of a pretty silky jacquard fabric. Also, the dress is more fitted than the photoshoot pictures show--I took it in a little more after the shoot.

A Carnival Themed Party!
Throwing parties is one of those things that keeps me alive, as ridiculous as that may sound. I love the planning and the preparation. I love the stress the day of the party, and the relief when people come, and the happiness I get from people around me being happy.
Never did I ever think I'd end up being a party planner type of girl. In high school I was insecure and scared. I wasn't some girl who could throw a party where people would have fun and actually show up. Never. I guess now that I'm in college--almost done with college, crazily enough--I've found this confidence in myself that I didn't know I had. It comes from a lot of good friends who I'm totally myself around and who I have fun with. It comes from amazing roommates who are my best friends and my soul sisters. I thank God every single day for them in my prayers because I'm so lucky to have people like them in my life. And it comes from the fact that I really do like myself right now, and to an extent, I don't care what people think of me. Especially not as much as I did in high school.
I've realized that doing what makes me happy is the best feeling in the world, so I try not to stop myself from doing those things.
This party was a fun one. I loved planning it, down to the details of the food, games, and decorations. I had a difficult time finding any carnival-themed printables on pinterest, so I made my own using Picmonkey, and they turned out fabulous. I set up a photobooth, complete with props like hipster glasses, speech bubbles, and mustaches (as much as I am tired of the mustache trend, they make for excellent and hilarious photo booth props). People that I knew and didn't know came and went. We had loud music going with some people dancing the whole night, some of us talking and then dancing, and others just enjoying being there socializing by the fire pit, the games, the photobooth, or the concessions. I wish I had taken more pictures of them, but we had carnival games lining the wall, like a ring toss (water bottles and bracelets), a clothespin drop (trying to drop a clothespin into a thin vase), and a fortune teller (magic 8 balls). If I hadn't been hosting the party, I definitely would have done face painting too. It was a delightful night and everyone who came had a good time.
See, that's the thing about parties, is that they make other people happy. And making other people happy makes me happy. Therefore, throwing parties make me exceptionally happy. See for yourself, and next time I throw one and you're in Provo, you should definitely come. :)

Cutting Fashion Look #5: Black and White Dress
This dress may have been my favorite one in the collection. It was probably the most creative one out of all them too. I actually designed this dress like two years ago, but I came back to it when designing this collection and knew it would be perfect. This dress was probably the most well made and executed dress out of them all and I'm super proud of it. Here are photos of the dress with my model Sahara wearing it.
