To Boston

I guess right now I could be catching up on posts from July because I am stuck in an airport bored out of my mind, waiting for a bus to take me home (long story). But I don't really feel like posting any of that stuff because I think it might make me cry, and I'm already pretty close to tears.

This morning I was in Massachusetts driving down the Mass Pike for the last time, admiring all the trees and all the old buildings one last time. This morning I was in Massachusetts and now I'm not. I'm just gone.

Don't get me wrong, I am so excited to see my family and friends again and just be home in Utah. But I'm so devastated to leave Boston. I had one of the best summers ever, going to beaches, Red Sox games, traveling all over the east coast, and of course interning at Anthropologie. I feel like it really became my home for the past three months...I got to know the area and the people. I lived and loved there.

I don't even know what I'm trying to say here, just that I'm going to miss it so much. I'll miss going to Anthropologie on Mondays and Tuesdays, working on projects with the other employees and interns and learning so much while doing it all. I will miss all the trees everywhere and I'll miss all the random lakes and ponds and beaches and coasts all over the place. I'll miss the singles ward and the family ward that I went to that were both so welcoming and immediately friendly. I'll miss the patriotism and the history. I'll really miss my "summer family"--Derick, Cat, Bri, and Elle. I loved having late night talks and laughs with Brianna and giggling about all our crazy inside jokes and every weird thing that happened to us. I loved Ellie's spunky personality and always being able to have fun with her. I loved late night movies and random tourist trips to show me around the area. I loved it all sooooo much. And that is why I will miss it. Sooooo much.

So to Boston and all the people I met there, I love you. Thanks for an amazing summer and a really happy summer. I learned and experienced so much and I will never forget it all. Hopefully I will be back soon (very soon!) and be able to experience it all over again. So for now....goodbye. I will miss you :)

Life Update

Crazy as it is...my Boston summer will soon be coming to a close. I go home in like two and a half weeks, which is seriously insane to think about. It's all gone by soooo fast and it's been so fun! I've definitely made a home here, and I'm going to be very very sad to leave it.

The internship at Anthro has been amazing and continues to be so. I seriously love them as a company and everyone that works there. We've been working on merchandising, window displays, and fall concepts, so it's been a really awesome learning experience! Here's the window display we've been working on....

We cut and dyed egg cartons to make 4000 flowers for this display. I love the "secret garden" feel of it. So beautiful.

I've also been working at Forever 21 to make some extra $$$ and it's been a lot of fun! I feel like I've been learning so much there too. I'm a sales associate, so mostly I just make sure everything looks nice, put stuff  back, and help customers, but I always feel so inspired to be around all of the clothes. They have so many different styles and so much of the apparel is really cute. One thing I like about Forever 21 is that they manage to make super cute clothing but sell it for a really affordable price. Fashionable on a budget :) But yeah, Forever has been really fun. I'm so glad I got hired and had a chance to work there this summer.

I'm sewing a dress this week! And you don't even know how excited I am to do it! I'm a bridesmaid for one of my best friend's weddings and we just have to pick our own dress, so I decided to make mine, because I couldn't really find one that I loved or that matched the colors very well. Tonight we went shopping for fabric and totally scored! We went to Joann's and I bought fabric, elastic, buttons, and thread all for...$11.50! The cashier was really nice and she gave me the college student discount and then used coupons that made all of my items 50% off. An original dress for $11?? I'll take it! Don't worry, I'll post pictures as soon as it's finished. It's gonna be super cute! Also..there's a yellow dress I made back in April that I don't think I ever posted, so when I get a chance I'll do an outfit post for it.

One last thing...next week I'm going to NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (most of the time, this would be an overuse of exclamation points, but considering my excitement and the amazing-ness of this, I would say the exclamation points are just right). I cannot wait! I will be posting so many pictures when it happens!

Anyhow, I'm probably going to go to bed soon, maybe watch an episode of Ugly Betty on Netflix (speaking of tv....Project Runway season 10 just started! So psyched!), or maybe read (currently reading: The Truth About Forever, by Sarah Dessen). We'll see.

The Best News I Could Ever Have

So I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I'm going to live in Boston this summer with my aunt and uncle! I made this decision because I wanted to experience the world more and I decided this was the best time to do it. I know it would be a lot of fun. So with this decision, I decided to apply for some fashion internships. If I didn't get any, no sweat, I'd just find a job when I got out there and work. Well yesterday, I just found out that....

I'm interning at ANTHROPOLOGIE!!!

And I couldn't be more excited! I'm so happy to now have something lined up for when I go out there and for it to be something that will help me move along in my fashion career! It's a school credit display internship, so I'll be helping working on the store and window displays, which will be soo cool, considering they have the coolest displays ever (see here). It's also great because I've done the merchandising stuff at work a lot, so I'm excited to learn more about it. :)
