Thoughts on the Bachelor So Far

If you don't watch the Bachelor, I apologize for this post in advance. Skip over it if you so desire, but I felt like writing about it. After yesterday's episode I'm going to write about the girls in order of my own favoritism.

1. AshLee: So far, she seems like the most genuine and sweetest girl on this show. I loved how she graciously shared her date with Sean with those two other girls last week, cried talking about it, and then shared a personal story about her own life and how she was adopted when she was six. And then we have this week's episode where she was right there helping Sarah out and giving her words of encouragement. If Sean doesn't pick her to be his wife by the end of this, she's gonna be the next bachelorette. Totally calling it.

2. Sarah: I don't know if it's just because of the whole "missing an arm" thing, but I think even if she had all body parts, I'd still like her. Sarah seems really nice and stays out of the drama. You can tell she's obviously there to get to know Sean better, but she's also being friendly with the other girls. I feel bad that they keep focusing on the fact that she only has one arm though (I know, I know, I brought it up at the start of this paragraph) because she said at the beginning of the season that it's something that doesn't define her. Also, they never should have taken her on the roller derby date. That's just mean and one more way they're trying to make the show more interesting. Not cool.
I really did try hard to get a good screenshot of Sarah but it just wasn't working out.
3. Selma: I feel like I can really relate to Selma in the fact that we are both small, non-athletic girly girls. My roommates and I were very excited last week to see that she'd get a date with Sean this week because she is hilarious. I love how she's always speaking her mind and pretty much being herself. I also respect her for not kissing Sean, although laying down and cuddling under a blanket with your lips an inch apart saying "I want to kiss you so bad," doesn't really show that you're trying to be a consertive muslim for your mother. Haha, just pointing that out. But yes, I like her and I hope she's around for a while.

4. Desiree: I'm not quite sure what to think of Desiree. I really liked her when she first went on her one-on-one date with Sean and they seem to have really good chemistry. I just wonder if she has some drama hidden behind that smiling face. She seems like she could be a girl who, if she doesn't get what she wants, then tension arises. Also, we know there will be some type of drama coming up with her because they showed in the coming scenes that one of her ex-boyfriends will come and try to win her back (staged by ABC? I honestly wouldn't be surprised). I'm jealous of her job as a Bridal Stylist though. I think that'd be fun.

5. Robyn: Somehow, although Robyn hasn't been on a one-on-one date with Sean yet, she seems to make herself known, and mostly not in a bad way. She's a go-getter and confident, which is good, but I don't see her staying around for too much longer. I don't think she and Sean will connect the way he does with some of the other girls. He might just be keeping her around because of the question she asked about races in the first episode. That's another reason why I like her, because I thought it was cool of her to bring that up and ask him.

6. Jackie: I honestly don't know much about this girl, but I still like her more than some of the other girls there (or dislike her less--not that I dislike her). I think she's getting a date next week which will be good. I don't know how much longer she'll be around because she doesn't seem to get as caught up in all the drama. When Tierra was confronting her and Robyn, she kind of just stayed out of it. That's probably what I would do in a situation like that too, but sometimes it's more fun to watch people who talk more and put themselves out there (disclaimer: I'm not saying I like the drama *cough*Tierra*cough* because I most definitely do not).

7. Catherine: After watching the little bit of Catherine that I saw in this week's episode, I like her a lot less than I did. You can tell she's super forward and a very physical person with her saying she just wants to end up with a "passionate man" and telling Sean she wishes she could kiss him when they're at the rose ceremony. We'll see about Catherine...we will see.

8. Lindsay: Personally, I don't know what Sean sees in this girl that the first impression he got of her was her in a wedding dress and then later on her being drunk and begging to kiss him. I was really surprised she didn't go home the first episode. She seems kind of immature and just plain annoying to me. I don't really know what Sean sees in her and I hope she goes home soon because she annoys me.
I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist posting this photo. Goldmine!
9. Lesley M. (although now she's the only Lesley/Leslie left, which will make things much less confusing, thank goodness): Lesley and Lindsay are both about tied at the same spot right now. But the way she's looking here sent her down a notch. She's all about the kissing and the pda, with kissing Sean and trying to be all sexy in the photoshoot, her going back and kissing him after the moment was over, and then participating in the longest on screen kiss ever (I guess that probably wasn't her fault, but I have no doubt that she would have suggested it had she had a choice). Her and Sean did seem to have pretty good chemistry together but I hope he doesn't end up with this girl. She just seems a teeny bit trashy (like a player type girl, for lack or non-usage of better words).
Not a ton of Lesley shots in this week's episode...maybe the way she looked here is why.
10. Daniella: I know nothing about this girl and was shocked to see that Sean picked her over Amanda (not that Amanda was doing herself any favors with her dress, hair, or makeup...more on that later). The only reason she's not at the bottom is because no one can be worse than Tierra on this show.

11. Tierra: She's the devil in disguise. Or even worse...the devil's wife in disguise. How do I hate Tierra? Let me count the ways....she's always talking about how she can't wait to punch girls or push them down (reminds me of this--Tierra and that girl would get along very well--also I love how the only girl Tierra got along with was Amanda. Of course hahaha), she's so fake around Sean, she has fake broken necks and fake seizures (next week), she says she hates drama, she tells Sean she wants to leave just so she can get the rose (what happened to "I want Sean to give me that rose because he likes me for me"?), she forces fake apologies to the other girls, she does mean jokes like saying Selma was going on the date last week, she tells Sean not to listen to the other girls if they say she's causing drama, and she's always always fixing her sleeveless dress trying to show more cleavage. This girl is a class A psycho. Right up there with Mona from Pretty Little Liars. The only consolation I have from all this drama is that when this is all done and she doesn't end up with Sean (if she ends up with him then something is wrong with this world), karma will come back to bite her because everyone will see how she really is and she'll never be able to get a date again. She'll be single and alone for the rest of her life. Ha. Maybe then she'll realize that she should have just played nice.
Tierra, empress of the couch. I love the angles they use in this show.
Other last thoughts on this week's episode:
  • I was just about to write that they should make Chris Harrison the Bachelor one year, because wouldn't that be entertaining?! But I looked him up on wikipedia and he is apparently dating Justin Bieber's mom. Hm.
  • Amanda never wears anything flattering. On the second episode she wore a yellow dress that looked terrible on her and her hair looked like a rat's nest. This week during the rose ceremony she looked like an unkempt vampire from the 1920s. Not a very cute style to pull off. I was happy to see her go for her ugly outfits and the ugly way she was around others. Although I do have to say that it was hilarious when she told everyone she did roller derby all the time and in reality did not and then broke her chin. The best was when the other girls were like, "If Amanda, this amazing roller derby champion got hurt, how bad is this going to be for me?" Ahaha soooo funny! I'm glad she's gone though.
This look inspired a whole new series of novels for Stephanie Meyer
  • I've gotten used to the idea that they will always open with Sean in shorts. Pro: he wasn't wearing the same blue shorts in the same scene as the last three episodes. Con (or pro, depending on how you look at it): he was wearing tight black shorts that made me want the blue ones back.
  • I felt bad for Leslie that she had to go home. However if you go home on the bachelor, do it in style wearing diamond earrings and Badgley Mischka dress, purse, and shoes. Yes, definitely a date to leave the Bachelor on if you're gonna have to go.
  • They never eat on their dates even though they say they're getting dinner. And Sean always asks every single girl about her family. Every. single. one.
  • I suppose I have no more thoughts....except that AshLee is super sweet and Tierra is a crazy maniac. Can't wait for next week's two day episodes..woo hoo!
One more thing...know that I watch this show purely for entertainment purposes and not because I think that this could all apply to my dating life (although maybe I should give polyga-dating a try since monogomous dating isn't working out for me...kidding! Mormons are not polygamists. I promise.) or because I think the two people at the end will actually end up together. If you don't watch it and want to start, be prepared because you will get hooked.

What were your thoughts? Do you watch the show, yes, no? Who's your favorite? I don't need to ask who your least favorite is because if it's not Tierra then you must be her sister or mother. In that case, I am still not sorry....She's insane!!

Whenever I find a funny, cute, inspirational, or any kind of of interesting youtube video, I bookmark it. This all started when I was with some friends one night and we just kept looking up funny youtube videos but couldn't remember some names or what they were called, so after that I decided I wanted to keep all my videos in the right place so I'd be able to refer to them whenever I want. I feel like I've been coming across a lot of great ones lately so here are a few that I wanted to share:

Harry Potter (yes, I have a Harry Potter video folder):

and to end with, a cute one:

Any videos you're loving lately?

Not being in school has been such an interesting experience. I can sleep in every day for as long as I want and then I realize that I have nothing to do and become productive. Today I did laundry, did the finishing touches on one of my fashion show garments, vacuumed my room, ironed and steamed my finished garments, and looked for jobs.

Tonight I did a quick grocery store run with my sister (sidenote: let me just say how much I love having her Provo. It's been really fun to have a sibling here) and then went to family home evening. I talked with people in my ward, made new friends, felt the spirit, and had fun playing a get-to-know-you game. And then I got home and worked on blog stuff (for another blog I'm starting with my friends soon).

There are a lot of things about not being in school that are difficult. The main one being the fact that my life plans changed and got postponed but everyone around me is still staying on course with their own. I feel like I'm being left behind, even though it's my fault I'm not moving forward right now.

But while not being in school has been somewhat of a tough and different adjustment, it's been really nice. I feel so stress-free, which I think is something I really needed. I know that this no school/no job situation won't last forever (I do need a job so I hope it ends soon actually) but while it is lasting, it's good. I kind of feel like I'm just floating along in life.

Today was nice. I'm happy. And I think my life is right on par for the course it's supposed to go in. :)

Outsides and Insides

You know, I hardly ever take outfit photos anymore--maybe once a month--and I post them on here even less than that. I don't see that as a bad thing though. If anything, it's good. It's a little success. Two years ago I'd spend forever the night before trying to figure out what cute outfit I was going to wear the next day. And then I'd wear that outfit hoping that just one person would tell me I looked cute that day, and if they did, it was a successful day. How silly, huh? So much time spent on an outfit that would be taken off at the end of the day...so much time spent worrying and wondering what people thought about that outfit. As silly as it really was, I kind of needed that at the time. I needed the cute outfits to give me the confidence I didn't really have at the time.

The thing is though, appearance isn't everything. I'm not saying it isn't something--the way we look is very valued in our society. If we're dressed business-like for an interview, it shows we're professional. If you never brush your hair or wash your clothes, people might think you're lazy or homeless. Appearance shows who we are in a way--concert tees tell us what type of music people like, girls who enjoy wearing dresses and skirts other than to church are probably more girly, and anyone with colored skinny jeans, oxfords, a chambray shirt, thick-framed glasses, and some sort of a mustache pin or necklace is probably a hipster. I love clothing--I mean, I want to be a fashion designer. Clothes are great and they make us feel really great when we wear great clothing. The thing about clothes though, is that they are not defining. They don't make us who we are.

There was a time when I really cared about what I looked like a lot. Too much. It's a story for another day when I'm ready to tell it, but just know that I worried about more than just cute outfits. Since then, I've changed and I came to realize that there was more to people than just who they were on the outside. I realized that there was more to me than just my outside. You can spend all day putting on your makeup and wearing the cutest outfit in the world, but in the end, it will have to come off, and when it does, all your problems are still going to be there.

There are a gajillion bloggers out there, and probably about half of them blog about what they wear every day. Some of them are really popular and we look at these people and go "oh my gosh they are gorgeous and they look so cute and I wish I had their life." But behind the perfect outfit, and the perfect photography, and the perfect amount of followers they have on their blog, they are still like you and me. They have sadness like everyone else. Their lives, I'm sure, are really great. But in some ways, their lives are also really hard.

Today, I go to my closet, and some days I will wear a really cute outfit because I want to, but I don't worry about people complimenting me on it or me having to take a picture of it to document this glorious moment of an outfit. Some days, I spend a little time putting on my makeup and making myself look really cute, and I do this because I want to, because to me putting on makeup is fun, and because I like looking pretty. And then there will be other days when I go to my closet and I pick out a t-shirt and jeans and some regular sneakers, and I don't even wear makeup. Those days are just as good as the "cute" days. Why? The answer is the age-old one we've heard ever since kindergarten: "It's the inside that counts." :)

And now please enjoy this photo of my friends and I (pretend) throwing health and beauty magazines in the trash because we are cool like that haha :)

Current Music I'm Loving Right Now

1. ZZ Ward and her album "'Til the Casket Drops." Holy cow, this girl has an amazing voice. She has a style kind of similar to Adele but a little more upbeat and blues-y. I love this whole album. Some of my favorite songs of hers include: "If I Could Be Her," "Last Love Song," "Put the Gun Down," and "'Til the Casket Drops." Seriously, go listen on spotify and buy on itunes if you really like it. And the chances are high that you will really like it. :)

(Sorry, the "Last Love Song" video has a lot of kissing--I couldn't find any other video with the song!)

2. P!nk's album "The Truth About Love." A lot of the songs on here are explicit, so if you don't like that, I'd recommend listening to the clean versions of the songs, which is what I did. Fav songs: "Beam Me Up," "Try," "True Love," "Just Give Me a Reason," and "The Great Escape."

3. Any of Glee's music from this season. I am a watcher of Glee and while I think the show is great, I love love love the music, and I think this season they've really done a phenomenal job with it. Everyone has amazing voices and I love the emotion that is behind every song. Favorites are: "Give Your Heart a Break," "Don't Dream It's Over," "Mine" (love that one SO much), "The Scientist," "Let's Have a Kiki/Turkey Lurkey Time," "Holding Out for a Hero," "Barely Breathing," "Don't Speak," "You Drive Me Crazy/Crazy" and "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." That's a ton of songs, but they really are so good. In my opinion, the episode with the best music this season was "The Break-Up." Super sad episode but really good music.

4. Lindsey Stirling and her new album. If you haven't listened to this girl's amazing music, you definitely need to! She's done something revolutionary with her violin music, taking something that is normally very classical and making it super techno and cool. Favorites of hers are "Moon Trance," "Electric Daisy Violin," and "Shadows."

5. Fifth Harmony! Anyone watch the X-Factor? If you do, you know who these five adorable and way talented girls are. They're a group that were formed on the X-Factor and every week would get better and better. The competition's over now and they placed 3rd, which is totally amazing. They don't have any of their own songs yet but favorites of theirs are "Anything Could Happen," "Impossible," and "Anytime You Need a Friend." They are definitely one of my new favorite artists because they are so talented and I love listening to their music.

(btw, the title on this second one calls them a different name because they didn't start out with 5th harmony as their name. Just an fyi :))

6. And let's just add some Carrie Underwood songs because when am I not listening to her? Current CD in my car is Carnival Ride and some of my current favorites of hers are: "Flat on the Floor," "Blown Away," "Fix You" (Coldplay cover), and "Change."

Enjoy! Do you have any music that you've been listening to a lot lately? I would love to find some new artists to listen to if you have any suggestions!! :)

I literally have had no time lately! Which is definitely one of the reasons blogging has taken a hiatus. I am currently furiously sewing for the Cutting Fashion show on February 9th (I'll give you more details as it gets closer so you can come!). All my looks are due this Saturday so I just need to be done by then. I'm so close but at the same time I feel like I still have so much to do! It's like my own little Project Runway, minus Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum, Mood fabrics (still wish I lived in New York just so I could go there whenever I want), and the fact that I don't have a nice big sewing studio haha. Everything is coming along nicely though. I met my models on Saturday when we had a rehearsal for the runway show. I love them. They're some of the nicest girls I've ever met.  We also had a designer photoshoot on Saturday so I got to get to know some of the designers better. The show is going to be so fun! I get more excited for it every day.

For those of you who haven't heard (which is probably most of you), I've decided to take a temporary break from school. I'm kind of close to graduating with about two-ish semesters left (but maybe more) but I really need a break. I was not doing super well in school and I wasn't motivated at all, so the decision was made for me to take some time off. It was a really hard thing to realize that I wouldn't be in school this semester and I cried a lot thinking about it. I mean, it's a scary thing not to be doing what I've been doing basically since I was five years old. It's scary to think about not following the exact plan I had in mind. But yeah, school's been hard for me to do lately so I need to take some time off. Temporarily of course.

Another sad fact of me not being in school is that I had to quit my job of three and a half years at the bookstore. My last day was on Friday and it was really sad to go. It's been an awesome job and I really love the people I work with. Thankfully though, I know we will keep in touch because we are such good friends. So I'm now officially jobless and school-less. I'm so grateful I have the fashion show to keep me busy while I'm searching for a job. Otherwise I might just sit around like a lazy potato (is there such a thing?).

It's sad that I won't be in school for a little bit, but it's the right decision. It's definitely what I need right now. And I have to say that it's taken a lot of stress off my back. I'm so glad that I don't have to stress over school and worry about any of that stuff right now. It's such a relief. A relief that I really need. :)

One more exciting thing about this semester is that my sister Carina is now in Provo going to UVU! It's been the best having her here. It's nice because I automatically have someone to hang out with or just chill with. We go grocery shopping together and can hang out whenever. Seriously though, I love it. I'm so happy she's here. It makes me feel more at home. :) She's also modeling in the fashion show for me which is extra fun.

Welp...that is the life update for now, because I know you were all dying to hear how I was. I'm doing good. Life is really happy and I am just so so excited for this fashion show coming up. You should plan on coming because it's going to be SWEET. Also, if any of you know of any jobs in the Provo/Orem/Utah county area, please please let me know, because I need to find something soon! I would love something full-time and am free at all times of the day. Seriously though, if you hear of anything let me know!
