In case any of you are very confused and think you're reading a completely different blog, never fear! I was just really tired of having two blogs and also I was super tired of having this one be only a fashion blog, so it underwent quite a few changes...such as a new name, new design, and soon a new URL. I just figured I'd leave the same URL for a week, in case people don't use google to follow and come back to find my blog has just disappeared. So in a week, the new address will be www.peach-lemonade.blogspot.com and this one will say there is no blog at this address. There are also a ton more posts because I imported all my posts from my other blog so that they are all in one place! That one will be shortly deleted as well.
Also, I chose this name because well...I really love peaches and also lemonade and I thought it would be a cute name and color scheme for the blog. There wasn't a whole lot of creative input going into the name but I really love it :)
And that's pretty much it! I'll still be posting outfits and such, but also other stuff as well. Have a great and happy day!
Well, I am here in Boston (actually in a city just a little outside of it) and couldn't be happier. I've been here for two weeks and already I love it! It's gone by slow..and fast. Slow because right now I don't have much to do so the days are long and mostly uneventful.
I got here early on Wednesday, May 16 and came here to my aunt, uncle, and cousins' house where I'll be living for the summer.
I share a room with my cousin, Brianna and I came in to see this...so cute! I loved it :)
The days also seem to go by fast too, though, because it doesn't feel like I've been here for two weeks and it's crazy to think that the whole summer is already flying by. We've done so much stuff. Haha this will sound nerdy, but they actually have really fun furniture stores here so one night after going out to eat, we went to Jordan's Furniture, and then to Bob's Furniture. My family and I came to Boston for a vacation about ten years ago and I remembered going to Jordan's before, so that was pretty fun. Each of their stores have a different theme and the one here is Mardi Gras themed so that it looks like a Southern city when you walk in. An employee also hands you beads when you get there. So cool!
Bob's has a fish pond at the front of the store, and then they also have this freebies section. It's awesome because it has all these free treats like delicious ice cream, lemonade, and a ton of candy! You can have as much as you want but you're not supposed to take any home with you. Brianna (first picture, she's 13) and Ellie (second pic, she's 6) had fun playing on the animals in the store.
So let me just tell you...Bob is a real person, and I get the vibe that he is a little weird (as cool as it is that we get free sweets from his store). Just look at that huge mural on the wall, filled with Bobs!!! We couldn't stop laughing at it, because if you look at the right side, the one in the black shirt looks like he's going to hit the guy below him in the head (yellow shirt laying down). And then the red one above looks like he's going to clap the guy in the black shirt's head. And even so, a collage filled with the same balding man in brightly colored polos tucked into his carpenter jeans is a little weird, no? Brianna and Ellie were imitating some of the Bobs on the wall.
One of the days during my first week here, I went with Ellie and my uncle Derick to a lake that is literally like 2 blocks from their house! How nice is that? I didn't swim, just read and tanned a little. We were only there for like half an hour, but it was a half-hour well spent.
Last week, Derick was in North Carolina for work, so I had his car for the time he was gone. Unfortunately, the first day I had it, I was driving Ellie home from gymnastics when I was kind of getting lost and the car started smoking and way overheated. I managed to get in a parking lot and called my aunt, Cat, telling her I was completely lost, but it turns out I was literally across the street (it's a kind of highway but it has a thing in the middle so you can't cross it unless you have a light) from the road they live on. Haha of course!
The car's fine now, but since we didn't have it anymore, one day I walked the two blocks to Ellie's school to pick her up. One thing I absolutely LOVE about the east coast is how beautiful and green it is here! I can't get enough of it! There are trees everywhere and their house is right across from a little foresty place, something that in Utah you would only see camping.
Sorry for that photo overload, but I seriously love that fact of living here. People always say that the mountains in Utah are beautiful, which they are, but to me I don't think anything beats the gorgeousness of the nature here.
I started my internship this week! I think it's going to be really fun. I can't say a ton of what we're doing, just for confidentiality reasons and such, but I'll update as much as I can. It's still crazy surreal to me that I'm an intern at Anthropologie, but I'm so excited. I'm going to get to work on the window displays and other stuff like that so it'll be great. I met one of the other interns too and she and my supervisor are super nice! This is the store where I'm interning at.
In other news, I feel like I've already made a ton of friends with my ward and through people that my aunt and uncle know. We've gone sight-seeing to a few places (Red Sox game, anyone?? :)) and I'll blog about those soon! Oh and also, since my internship is unpaid and only a few days a week, I'm kind of bored so I got a job at Forever 21! Super excited for that, it starts next week. :D Anyways, that's everything for now, just basically know that although I really am missing all my friends and family a TON, I love it here a lot, and I plan to make it one of the best summers ever.
My last weeks in Utah were kind of busy, and mostly just really fun. I love that I was able to spend those two weeks all with my family, and a lot with Gracie, since she and I were the only ones not in school or work. I had been planning on leaving for Boston May 7th, but because I was flying standby, none of the flights looked good and I had to end up going a whole week later. At the time, it was a little frustrating but I'm actually really glad it worked out that way because it meant I had more time at home and I also got to be there for Mother's Day, which was wonderful.
May 5th was a busy day for everyone. For the past 3 years, my mom has gone to class for four hours every Wednesday night and done a lot of homework to get her Master's degree in school counseling. Well, she totally did it! She graduated with a 4.0 and passed the licensing test so she's officially licensed to work as a school counselor. We all went to her graduation to support her aweseome-ness. :)
After the graduation, my aunt Zildy was planning a surprise birthday for my uncle (her husband) Jonas. He just turned 40 so she wanted to do something extra special for him. One of our friends (though she is practically family) lives in a complex that has a playhouse so Zildy reserved that and we went there to decorate. The party was Avengers themed so I bought cool shirt for it...I got it from Walmart in the boys section, but it is really cool because it changes color in the sun and glows in the dark! I did all the streamers and helped put out food and control the kids when they came, as it was a family party.
Haha since we get really cheap color printing at school, I printed out a bunch of masks for people to cover their faces with to surprise Jonas with as he came in. I printed the Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, and Jonas! It was really funny. Below is Sidney, Carina, and I donning the masks. Zildy also had Thor hats that we all wore.
Jonas was completely shocked when he came in! But he definitely loved it! I love Tayevion in the picture below.
Someone made a huge oreo cake for the party and I made cupcakes that had an oreo in the middle (mmm!). We had chili and cornbread for dinner and then the cake for dessert. It was a huge cake and the middle oreo stuff tasted especially yummy.
Every year, this school called Cameo in Murray does a skin care event where they have a ton of free services like pedis and manis, eyebrow waxing, and other beauty stuff that I really don't even know what it does. Anyways, I've gone most of the years, and this year I got to go again, since I hadn't made it on the flight to Boston yet. It happens during the day so the girls in school usually don't get to go. They give you a ticket when you go in and then you get to pick a service done with that ticket. Then they also have other free services (mani and eyebrow waxing) that you don't need a ticket for.
We did pedicures, which is what we usually do and also did the other non-ticket services. I didn't get a manicure because I bite my nails and even with nail polish it doesn't stop me. I know, it's a really bad habit that I'm trying to stop, but it's hard! Below is the eyebrow waxing.
My grandpa had been watching the kids while we were at the event, but then we figured Gracie and Jasmine might like getting manicures. So they came over and got to do it too. As you can see, Gracie adored getting her nails painted. She chose a shiny blue and just was so happy. The lady painting her nails was really sweet too.
Jasmine didn't show quite as much excitement as Gracie over the nail-painting...
I'm so glad I was able to stay for Mothers Day as well. We got chocolates in church (for anyone 18 and older) and all the extended family came over to celebrate. Jonas made gumbo for dinner and we had some yummy cake for dessert. I gave my mom a cute little sign with a quote about faith on it to put on the wall, and also Sidney and I spent the whole day working on making cds and cd cases to give to all the moms. Starting about 6 years ago, I made "Mom's Mix" and then I just kept doing it. But last year I kind of got tired of it, and I wasn't going to make it this year, but I ended up recruiting Sidney and we had each of the kids pick a song that reminded them of their mom and say why. It was really cute and the moms loved it. I also announced it would be the last Mom's Mix year so I'm free from it now! Ha :)
The dress I'm wearing below is also another happy reason that I stayed longer. I found it at Marshalls for only $20. A steal if you ask me. It's absolutely gorgeous! I tried taking outfit pictures but it was kind of late so they didn't turn out very good. I'll get some better pictures of it later.
Stay tuned to hear all about Massachusetts!!!
We woke up the next morning to see this: Port Canaveral. We were back and our magical and happy vacation was coming to a close. That morning was spent busily packing all our luggage and getting ready to leave. I took some pictures of our staterooms before we left. We had two staterooms for our family that were connected, complete with a balcony outside, which was so nice.
We had breakfast at the Royal Palace and since there were such long lines to leave, we took that chance to walk around the ship a little more to see everything one last time and take a few last pictures.
And then, we left..... :( I sure hope to see you real soon, Mickey!! We had so much fun!
After we got off the cruise we could finally turn our phones on again (they don't work out at sea or you'd get charged if you did use it when not in the US) and received a text from our uncle Jefre, who lives in Miami along with his wife and some of our cousins, letting us know they weren't going to be able to visit us as planned. They were going to come meet up with us and spend the day with us but they had too much homework. So we got off the ship, kind of depressed, because there isn't much that beats a Disney cruise. We tried going to the NASA visitors center because we thought it was free but turns out it's pretty expensive so that didn't last long.
We ended up going to Cocoa beach but before went to the grocery store and took forever getting food (Carina wanted something to eat because she hadn't eaten on the ship as she was still feeling seasick) to eat. Finally we got to the beach and mostly just laid there and tanned (something we actually hadn't done much of on the ship surprisingly) while Gracie played in the water a little and found so many shells--she was in heaven I tell you.
After the beach we went to the Orlando temple and just walked around. It was peaceful, which felt good and made up for a little of our sadness of leaving the cruise and not being able to see our cousins.
For dinner we ate at a restaurant called "Steak and Shake" which was so delicious! Maybe we were just craving some burgers after all the fancy food we'd eaten on the cruise, but man was it good. We all got yummy shakes too so that filled us up and made us pretty happy.
Then we went back to our hotel to watch Once Upon a Time (its a tv show and we love it!) and then go to bed. Our flight the next morning left at 7 am, which was 5 am our time! And since it left at that time, we had to get up earlier than that to drop off our car and get to the airport.
When we got to the SLC airport, we were a tired but happy to be home bunch!
I just have to say that I love my family so much, and I'm so grateful that we got to go on this amazing vacation together. I love my parents for taking us and trying so hard to plan fun things for the whole family. I'm so happy to have been place with the family that I did, because they are the best and I really do love them. And boy am I lucky, because we get to spend all eternity together! :)
