Playing the Piano in Church

Today was so scary. I had to play a piano solo in church, which I've never done before. I've played songs for the choir before, because I'm the ward choir piano player, but I've never done a piano solo before. Luckily, though I'm not sure if thats the right word, my eye was hurting and it took my mind off of playing the piano and I didn't really get nervous. I guess it was kind of a good thing, but thankfully my eye stopped hurting when I went up to go play. I didn't want everyone up there to see me crying for no reason. That would have been way embarrassing! But my eye felt better while I was playing. I think I played the song the best I've ever played it, and I hardly messed up. It seemed to go by really fast, too. Oh, and the song was "We'll Bring the World His Truth (Armies of Helaman)." Lots of people came up to me afterward and told me I did an amazing job. Also, lately I've been thinking of teaching piano lessons, and because of this, I think I might. I need a job anyways, and a lot of people were asking me and my mom if I taught piano, since there's no one really in our ward that teaches. I would have fun doing it too. I'm proud that I was able to accomplish something new today, even though I was scared.

Prom, Part 1

An exciting thing has happened! I got asked to prom!!!!!!!!! I'm way way super excited! The boy that asked me is named Doug and he's in my ward. I don't like like him or anything, we're just friends. But I think it will be a lot of fun. I was hoping I would get asked but I heard about more and more people getting asked and I wasn't sure if it was going to happen. But last Thursday, I found a jar of pennies on our kitchen counter. My dad had seen it when he'd gone outside to go running. Unfortunately, NO ONE TOLD ME it was there, and I was rushing that morning, so I had no time to see who it was. Later, I read the poem which said I had to find his name from the letters on the pennies. Luckily, I had my dad who was smart enough to figure out how it all worked out. This is what the poem said, in case you can't read it in the picture:

If you haven't been asked, I would like just a chance. To send my request to join you at the dance. If we go together, it just makes "cents."Though waiting for an answer may be quite tense. To find out my name, the time it will "cost."For all the letters in my name have been lost.I may not last long, so send your reply. Please do not answer no, or else I may cry.

This is the jar of pennies that he gave me. I donated the pennies for a thing we were doing at school so I don't have them anymore. I wish I had taken a picture before I gave them away! :(

I answered him back by taking all of our leftover easter eggs and putting a paper in each one, with only one of them saying "yes" on the paper. My friends and I took the eggs and scattered them all over his lawn at like 11:30 at night. Now, I just have to worry about my dress, my hair, getting him a boutonnière, etc... I'm way excited though. Its this coming Saturday, April 19 and its at the Capitol.

My dress is going to be WAY pretty. Its fades from orange to pink and it has beadwork on it too! And you never be able to guess how much it was! $30!!!! You can never find prom dresses for that cheap, but luckily they had some at Ross that were way pretty and cheap. Unfortunately, it has spaghetti straps, so my wonderful mom said she would alter it for me (what would I do without her)! We found some material that is almost exactly the same. We figured it was worth it to fix it since the dress was so cheap, because it would be way more to buy an already modest one. We checked at one place, and the dresses were like $400! I can't wait to wear it when its all done.

P.S. By the way, this is only Part 1 of Prom, because I will have to post all my pictures from Saturday night, and it hasn't come yet. (obviously!) So keep checking to hear about Prom night!

Key Club

This year I joined an organization at my school called Key Club. We mainly focus on service in school and in the community. Some of the things we've done this year is recycle in our school and go to an old folks nursing home. I've had lots of fun and its cool because two of my best friends are in it. Since its getting to the end of the year, tryouts for everything are going on and since I'll be a senior next year, then I was able to try out to be a Key Club officer. I didn't want to make too big of a deal out of it, just in case I didn't make it (but I still wanted to make it). Its good because already being a Key Club member looks good on a college application, but if you're a Key Club officer then it looks even better. I had my interview about two and a half weeks ago and they told us that they would decide soon. So at every meeting we had, someone would ask if the officers were decided and they would say that they were deciding later in the week. But it took them forever, because we heard them say this every single week! They had us answer questions on another paper because apparently they were having a hard time deciding. But finally, yesterday we got invited to a breakfast and they told us the officers. I was so excited when they announced that I was one of them! It made me really happy. My job is to be the bulletin editor, and I'm in charge of doing posters for Key Club and making the calendars and stuff. I'm really excited for next year and I can't wait to be a Key Club officer. There are seven of us and one of my friends made it too! I can't wait!
